I can see clearly now the rain has gone…
Thanks for all the kind comments and emails. The latest “once in a century” weather event (our third this year) has passed and thanks to our wild-overreacting-ditch-deepening we once again sat it out without panic. The winds were pretty hairy and we found large chunks of corrugated plastic roofing scattered about our land but it didn’t come from any of our roofs or those of our neighbours. Somebody somewhere got a little wet, I guess.
Our power was out for a day but we have friends around here who are only just getting power back now and the farmers further out are still waiting. We certainly get a lot of weather here in New Zealand. I’ve got some photos which I’ll load up shortly (just as soon as I recharge the camera!)
I’m much better health wise too and I’ve been convalescing carefully this time and trying not to overdo things too much. There are only 75 more days until my Big Trip and I don’t want to take any chances with that!
I promise to post properly very soon; work is crazy this week – every time we get a storm it knocks out a lot of computers (electrical storms are the worst for this) and we spend the next week fixing the blown modems and zapped power supplies and repairing corrupt files. Buy a surge protector people! You won’t know you need one until it is too late!
phew! glad you guys are ok
so where is the big trip too? am I going to bang into you in Loop in London or something equally silly?
Jussi
I’m off to Hong Kong (school reunion) in September. I can’t wait!
Are you going to London then? Lucky you! Don’t forget to visit Liberty’s, it’s my favourite.
I’m so glad to hear you’re all ok – I was thinking about you during that nasty patch!
